Visit of the Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy to the Ashtart Field

Mrs. Fatma THABET CHIBOUB is closely monitoring the activity of the offshore oil field 'Ashtart'.

The offshore oil platform of the Ashtart hydrocarbon field had the honor of welcoming, on Tuesday, June 10, Mrs. Fatma THABET CHIBOUB, Minister of Industry, Mines and Energy, for a working visit to the Ashtart site.

During her visit, the Minister was accompanied by Mr. Ouael CHOUCHENE, Secretary of State in charge of Energy Transition; Mr. Mohamed EL HAJRI, Governor of Sfax; Mr. Hedi CHAABENE, Director General of Hydrocarbons; Mrs. Faiza DJABLOUN, Director General of Governance within the Ministry; as well as other senior officials from the Ministry. Also in attendance was Mr. Mohamed Hazem ENNAIFAR, Chairman and CEO of the Tunisian Petroleum Research and Exploitation Company (SEREPT).

This visit is part of the ongoing review of the operational conditions of the Ashtart field, one of Tunisia’s most significant oil fields, established in 1973, for which SEREPT serves as the general contractor.

During the visit, the Minister and her delegation observed the sustained efforts of the SEREPT teams to ensure the continuous operation and maintenance of the equipment and facilities at the Ashtart field, in full compliance with safety requirements and standards, while preserving the site's integrity and protecting the environment.

In her address, the Minister emphasized the importance of the visit, which falls within the framework of monitoring the production pace of the Ashtart field and ensuring its safety and risk prevention. She commended the efforts of all stakeholders in maintaining the sustainability of the site and strengthening its contribution to national hydrocarbon production.

She also called for continued efforts to maintain and enhance the production rate, in order to support energy independence and promote the national economy.
