The Why's ?

PPE wearing constitutes the ultimate protection barrier before any person's physical integrity is attacked.

In fact, the PPE's are worn after putting in place the other prevention measures such as risk reduction / elimination, collective protections, technical processes.

The must do's

Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is indispensable for protecting oneself from risks likely to affect one's safety or health on the work sites.

The specific personal protective equipment is defined after systematic analysis of operation- related risks.

The personal protective equipment must comply with the following minimum requirements :

• Adapted to the intervention-related risks ;
• Not interfering with the work done ;
• Being compatible with the other PPE's worn at the same time ;
• Complying with the norms in force ;

The personal protective equipment must be :

• Maintained by the person that wears it ;
• Worn only in its utilization framework ;
• Kept in an appropriate place when not used.

The person that uses the personal protective equipment will have to :

• Be aware of the hazards in his work zone ;
• Know and employ the collective and personal prevention means ;
• Be trained prior to using and maintaining his PPE's ;
• Declare any noticed anomaly and/or insufficiency.
